For him, the attempt to present something as "real" before it has been experienced –– whether the moisture of a raindrop on the skin or the emotions elicited by a work of art –– is a segregation of the senses. When notions of uncertainty are eradicated and when the representational is deemed a given, our ability to see, understand and experience becomes atrophied.
